Forestry and Land Scotland Chief Executive visit
22 May 2019
On 10th May 2019, the Harvesting department gave a presentation on the constraints and the complexities of the modern harvesting site, the intricacies in coordinating the logistics of over 200,000 tonnes per year from their own harvesting sites and deliveries from suppliers. It was also explained that everything from 1.65m posts to 6.1m batons are produced on the single site adding to the difficulties. All this whilst pursuing a smaller carbon footprint. This was followed by a tour of the Round Fencing line and the ARI mill. Simon Hodgson was very interested in the new investments, where cutting edge technologies have been used. Afterwards, the place of Forestry and Land Scotland in commercial forestry, a billion-pound industry in Scotland, was discussed.
