Alan Stewart Retires

On Friday 4th July 2025 our Company said a fond farewell to Alan Stewart, who after fifty one years of loyal and dedicated service, decided it was time to ‘ hang up his saw ‘

Alan joined John Gordon and Son back in 1974 as a woodcutter, working initially with his brother George in many of the local forests along the Moray Firth. Alan’s time in the woods also involved working along side Iain MacKenzie who can be seen in the first picture on the extreme left, next to Alan McAra who was Harvesting manager at the time Alan Stewart joined us. On the right of Alan Stewart himself, is Ronald D Gordon who was Managing Director for many of the years Alan worked for our family firm.

Always conscientious and hard working , Alan spent the latter years of his long and distinguished working life, within the sawmill operations at Balblair Road in Nairn.

Thank you Alan for your many years of service, fifty one years is a record unlikely to be broken anytime soon!
